The Need To Attain Total Fluency

Mum I need to talk with you. What is the matter son? I just can not cope living with this for any longer, please will you help me to find a solution? This nightmare has to end - I have had enough. It should go without saying Steve; I will help you in any way that I can.

The above is a conversation which I had with my mother when I was aged sixteen. I had just arrived home after spending a most frustrating day out with my friends during which my speech was dreadful. The problems started at the train station when I attempted to order my train ticket, I could not say the word “return”, I felt so small. I am rather fortunate to have some top quality friends who always support me in these troublesome times. Think positive Steve you had no problems when speaking the rest of it. I have to say that this was most welcome however it did not help me to stop feeling very upset about the whole situation. What is wrong with? Why can I not speak properly? Why have I got this horrible ? I try to be a decent person in everything that I do in life therefore I can not understand as to why I have this annoying ?

My speech was basically OK for the next few hours but then it took a huge turn for the worse when we went to a fast food restaurant for lunch. There was a voice within my head which suggested that it would be best to ask a friend to order the food for me. This for me was just like being a wimp. I would order my own food and I will order it fluently I said to myself. Well at least I was attempting to think in a positive manner but it was to no avail, yes the stammering did occur, it was when attempting to say the word “cheeseburger”.

Around two hours later I was in a sports shop as I wanted to buy a pair of trainers. After finding a pair that I thought looked good, I went up to the shop worker to ask for a size seven. Guess what? Yes you’ve guessed it, the reared its ugly head yet again.

By the time that I arrived home I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I had had enough, this was the last straw. I was now desperate to find a form of how to stop stuttering help that would actually work.

I could not continue to live life with this stuttering problem and decided to fight back against this annoying and its associated demons.

Self-Help Products For Stammering

There are now numerous forms of therapy available for people who have a . With so many options available which ones are known to be the most productive?

A recent survey has suggested that the most popular form of therapy comes in the form of specialised one-to-one speech therapy courses which are run by people who have previously had a . These courses are normally held over a five-day period however there are shorter three-day and weekend speech courses available.

One of the many complaints that people make with reference to the more traditional forms of speech and language therapy is that the therapist has no real comprehension about the “effects of ”; now with this type of course that will not be a problem - this is why this course proves to be so popular and the results speak for themselves. Speech therapists have not lived life with a and therefore can not fully comprehend just what a struggle life can be etc.

Now of course an intensive one-to-one is not suitable for everyone. AN individual may not believe that they have enough self-; they may live too far away or they may just be unable to afford to attend the .

Fortunately there are also a number of self-help therapy products on offer. This is where a person attempts to overcome their from the comfort of their own home by following a set of stuttering therapy techniques. The self-help therapy options include a seventy minute DVD, the course notes e-book and also an audio book.

In the end the survey suggests that it all depends on a person’s individual circumstance but that there is normally a product to suit.

One last thing to remember; it is important that there is a continued after service on offer. This is something which should be available free from cost; the therapist basically making themselves available to answer and queries that arise.

A bald patch the size of a ten pence piece on my head

A problem with my speech known as a stuttering

A , I was quite for my height

I am quite short for a male at five-foot-four

Certain people would take the mickey out of me, and their comments would hurt. I made sure that the people around me could not see the amount they were hurting me but inside I was full of anger and frustration.

An Important Lesson Learnt From My Parents

I remember when I was growing up, my used to become vey annoyed with me when I stated that I could not do my homework or could not do other things I had been asked to do.

They would respond with the advice that I could do anything in life as long as I believed in myself and as long as I was willing to work very hard. My dad would state that the word can’t does not exist in his vocab and that he always thinks in a “I can do” manner.

He worked very hard to make me understand and to take on board this message, which would eventually prove to be a valuable lesson for me to learn. It has helped me to achieve many things and to also overcome some of the issues I had in my life.

School and employment

I was not the brightest student at school and as previously mentioned would often say that I could not complete the work through in my own ability. I actually worked my socks off and eventually left school with some very good grades; my were very proud. I continued this success into my work life and became a successful upvc front door salesman as well as offering Mobile Phone Voucher Codes

From the age of four I had suffered with the known as or stuttering. By my early twenties I had had enough of this struggle and went about trying to overcome the . My were amazing and were always there in a supportive way to ensure that I kept up the practice.

I did, after a huge amount of work and dedication, manage to overcome this most annoying of speech impediments, this enabled me to have the freedom and to say any word that I wanted to - this was a huge relief as you can no doubt imagine.

How To Raise Your Self Confidence

There were a range of things which impacted upon my overall self- and self-esteem levels as I grew from being a young child to a man. These included:

A bald patch on my head

A known as a

A , I was basically too

I am rather vertically challenged at only 5ft 4

Certain people I met would be quite nasty and would try to make fun of me. I tried really hard to ensure that these nasty people did not affect me however I must admit that there were many a time when I would shed a tear. Life at times was quite tough especially where I worked at the company offering a Medical negligence claims service.

These people were making my life a misery and by the age of twenty-two I had had enough. I decided I needed a big and started to read books about life and about etc.

These were the things I had to take on board:

Who cares what other people think about you? As long as you like and have respect yourself nothing else really matters

You need to start to like yourself

There are likely to be many things about yourself that you are not too about about however some of these you are unable to change. You therefore have to start accepting these things and realising that maybe there are other people in life who are more unfortunate than you.

You need to have respect for yourself

Only accept the best from life

I tried hard to implement this advice and even though it was not easy to change, I knew I had to. It is now time to make the most out of my life; I have a lot of catching up to do - there is certainly no time for worrying. I have also managed to eradicate the stuttering problem.

I have now become a successful external doors salesman and my life is now much happier overall.

I hope this article will be of benefit to the people who read it.

How To Become Successful

I like make many in the same way that each and every person who reads this article does. People who are successful are the ones who can accept these errors and who then go on and learn from them.

My taught me a lot of things about life and I clearly remember my father sitting me down when I was around fourteen years of age and speaking to me about this subject. He stated that he thought I was a decent person who knew right from wrong, he was however aware that I would make some . I was a person that had a speech imediment, commonly known as stuttering. I think having this impediment helped to make me grow up a lot quicker than some of the other kids.

He continued that he would not ask me to come home by a certain point at night and that he would let me make my own choices. If at any point he heard or learnt that I had done something that he thought was wrong or stupid, he would not tell me off but instead he would ask me if I agreed that I had been stupid etc. If I agreed, that would be the end of the matter, the problem would only occur if I then made the same mistake again as that would mean I had not learnt from the experience. He would then in his words, come down on me like a ton of bricks.

I agreed that this seemed fair and carried on living my life. I wondered what he had meant by the ton of bricks statement. I did make many and we had to have our chat on many occasions, I am happy to say that I did learn from my errors and never had to find out what he had meant.

I am somebody who loves playing sport. I am and do not like losing. I have had to accept that at times I will lose, however when I do I always ask myself a question, what could I have done differently today? What could I do differently next time I play to ensure the result is a positive one?

It is the same in where I sell composite doors and also where I offer Currys Voucher Codes; I am always eager to try and reach that next level up.

I am very grateful to this lesson my taught me and hope that in the future my children will be thankful at the way I and their mother have raised them.
