The Need To Attain Total Fluency

Mum I need to talk with you. What is the matter son? I just can not cope living with this for any longer, please will you help me to find a solution? This nightmare has to end - I have had enough. It should go without saying Steve; I will help you in any way that I can.

The above is a conversation which I had with my mother when I was aged sixteen. I had just arrived home after spending a most frustrating day out with my friends during which my speech was dreadful. The problems started at the train station when I attempted to order my train ticket, I could not say the word “return”, I felt so small. I am rather fortunate to have some top quality friends who always support me in these troublesome times. Think positive Steve you had no problems when speaking the rest of it. I have to say that this was most welcome however it did not help me to stop feeling very upset about the whole situation. What is wrong with? Why can I not speak properly? Why have I got this horrible ? I try to be a decent person in everything that I do in life therefore I can not understand as to why I have this annoying ?

My speech was basically OK for the next few hours but then it took a huge turn for the worse when we went to a fast food restaurant for lunch. There was a voice within my head which suggested that it would be best to ask a friend to order the food for me. This for me was just like being a wimp. I would order my own food and I will order it fluently I said to myself. Well at least I was attempting to think in a positive manner but it was to no avail, yes the stammering did occur, it was when attempting to say the word “cheeseburger”.

Around two hours later I was in a sports shop as I wanted to buy a pair of trainers. After finding a pair that I thought looked good, I went up to the shop worker to ask for a size seven. Guess what? Yes you’ve guessed it, the reared its ugly head yet again.

By the time that I arrived home I was mentally and emotionally exhausted. I had had enough, this was the last straw. I was now desperate to find a form of how to stop stuttering help that would actually work.

I could not continue to live life with this stuttering problem and decided to fight back against this annoying and its associated demons.

Self-Help Products For Stammering

There are now numerous forms of therapy available for people who have a . With so many options available which ones are known to be the most productive?

A recent survey has suggested that the most popular form of therapy comes in the form of specialised one-to-one speech therapy courses which are run by people who have previously had a . These courses are normally held over a five-day period however there are shorter three-day and weekend speech courses available.

One of the many complaints that people make with reference to the more traditional forms of speech and language therapy is that the therapist has no real comprehension about the “effects of ”; now with this type of course that will not be a problem - this is why this course proves to be so popular and the results speak for themselves. Speech therapists have not lived life with a and therefore can not fully comprehend just what a struggle life can be etc.

Now of course an intensive one-to-one is not suitable for everyone. AN individual may not believe that they have enough self-confidence; they may live too far away or they may just be unable to afford to attend the .

Fortunately there are also a number of self-help therapy products on offer. This is where a person attempts to overcome their from the comfort of their own home by following a set of stuttering therapy techniques. The self-help therapy options include a seventy minute DVD, the course notes e-book and also an audio book.

In the end the survey suggests that it all depends on a person’s individual circumstance but that there is normally a product to suit.

One last thing to remember; it is important that there is a continued after service on offer. This is something which should be available free from cost; the therapist basically making themselves available to answer and queries that arise.

Steve Hill runs the How To Stop Centre in the UK where he coaches people to achieve fluency.

After working extremely hard with copious amounts of dedication I did manage to achieve fluency - I was very proud of my efforts as you can no doubt imagine.

Avoid negative people

There are people out there who try to bring me down. They attempt to do this by off the cuff comments they make or just by the way they seem to look down on me. Life is now good and my business career has now taken off and I am now working with a company who offer a cost reduction strategy which I have to say is very enjoyable.

The Quest To Find A Stuttering Cure

Are you looking for techniques that can help you to eradicate your ? Has speech and language therapy or pathology been unable to help you to the levels that you require? Have you had enough of accepting second best in life? The above three questions are ones that I would regularly answer in the positive during the eighteen years when I had a . I have to admit that I was forever in search for a cure for and .

Now I am fully aware to call it a  cure is not exactly what some people would call the “correct English” but I basically was looking for a way or a set of techniques that could enable me to “stop ”. At there time there were not that many stuttering therapies out there, or at least not ones that were worthy of the name.

I always find it strange when I read about the so called National Associations for or . They always seem to refer people to their local speech and language therapist. Well that is a great referral! What is the point of asking people to attend speech therapy, something that has been unable to help them in the past? Speech therapy does not work for people who , well not to the levels that they desire - again to stop stuttering completely and let’s face it anything else is to accept second best.

I searched high and low in my quest to find the solutions to . I read many a book, asked many a question and studied many of the “best talkers”.

I put in a massive amount of effort, hard work and dedication as that is what is required. The majority of people are fully aware and accept that there is not one magical pill that can cure a . What is required is a desire to succeed and a willingness to work hard to ensure that the techniques become second nature.

There is now a seventy-minute film which has been produced by a DVD replication company in association with The How To Stop Centre which has full explanations of the techniques required to achieve fluency.

Fluency Techniques To Help People To Stop Stammering

The popularity and demand for the one-to-one communication therapy courses for is growing every year. Often referred to as “ therapy courses” they offer one-to-one over a two, three or five-day period. The courses themselves are run by a person who knows all about the subject of and stuttering due to the fact that he had this type of for eighteen years of his life before managing to achieve fluency when he was aged twenty-two.

These “ courses” are held in the UK, in the second largest city of Birmingham. The How to Stop Stuttering Centre has been offering these since 1996 and Steve Hill who runs them has regularly been featured within the media during that time including a front page appearance on the much respected Daily Telegraph.

Steve has also produced a number of self-help products for the people who are not able to attend a speech course in England. These include a therapy audio book, a therapy DVD and a therapy e-book.

Steve has recently developed the “ treatments via Skype”. Here people are able to receive therapy whilst watching Steve Hill on their computer screens. Due to the nature of speech this ability to be able to watch the demonstrating the way in which the techniques should be applied is very important.

So what about the feedback for such a course? Well thus far the feedback has been extremely positive hence why there is such a demand for these types of specialist therapy courses.

There is currently a three month waiting period to attend one of the three and five-day courses and for this reason Steve Hill has now commenced running a two day weekend course as well.

To achieve fluency I realised that I needed to start thinking in a much more positive manner; out went the negativity and in came a whole new “I can do it” approach. This really is the only way to go and I only regret that I did not realise this a whole lot earlier.
