Can You Train your subconscious mind to enhance your golf game exponentially ?

The answer to that question, is most definitely …YES!!

As a qualified NLP practitioner and a keen golfer currently playing off a handicap of 12,

I ALWAYS use some form of self hypnosis when I’m playing golf.

  • How many times have you let mean ’self talk’ lose you a golf game?
  • Do you get frustrated easily when your golf swing doesn’t feel quite right?
  • Do you leave the course thinking you would rather have done ANYTHING than play golf?

All these thoughts take up SO much energy and create totally unnecessary stress, just imagine what a difference it would make to your golf game if you could channel your energy and learn to make POSITIVE self talk work FOR you rather than AGAINST.

Can ANYONE use self hypnosis to improve their golf game?

How many times have you “woken up” from a daydream and found that:

  • You’re driving the car on a familiar journey and you can’t quite remember getting where you are
  • It’s the middle of the night , you’ve totally lost track of time and you’re still reading that book you got engrossed in last evening
  • You’re so engrossed in a film or sports programme on television and were completely oblivious to the fact that someone in the room is asking you a question.

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you have been in a naturally occurring trance and have been consciously pre-occupied with one task while unconsciously carrying out another. Being in a trance is NOT like being unconscious, it’s a feeling of being extremely relaxed and calm, but fully aware of what is going on around you.

You know the feeling of just waking up all cosy and warm in bed and just laying there in a totally relaxed state? That is how it feels to be in a trance, your mind is clear and open to suggestion without all the thoughts and stresses of daily life cluttering up your mind. That is the beauty of , you don’t have to consciously THINK about it, it just happens internally and naturally.

We learn behaviours and habits consciously then our unconscious mind takes over without us even realising.

Do you remember how it feels to play golf JUST after you’ve had a golf lesson and you are consciously trying to remember all the things you have just been learning. Do these golf swing thoughts sound familiar? ‘ Follow through the with the swing and keep looking down’, Transfer your weight as you hit through the ball’, ‘Finish in a strong upright position’.

It was amazing that you could still hit the ball at all with all those thoughts cluttering up your mind !

As a comparison, do you remember a day when you played GREAT GOLF and everything worked the way it should?

You probably didn’t think of your swing at all, you just pictured the shot you wanted to make, picked out the landing spot, swung freely and easily and struck the ball beautifully, didn’t it feel effortless and natural?

That’s How golf SHOULD be when you take out all the swing thoughts and just let it flow.

and that….is where comes in !

-How does it work ?

While you lay back and drift off into a lovely relaxed state, you will put on headphones and listen to a hypnosis CD or MP3 sound file that has been developed by a qualified and experienced hypnotherapist. On my website Exploring-Hypnotherapy I recommend several different sports hypnotherapists.com and each one will focus on a different skill of golf, you might want to work on steadying your putting for a few sessions, visualising your drive off the first tee, developing a general feeling of being a winner or even developing and growing an inner sense of calm and self belief in yourself and your golfing abilities.

Each session is incredibly relaxing and you open your eyes feeling extremely positive and calm, you might not notice any difference at the time but you will be amazed how words and thoughts from your session will just float ‘out of nowhere’ up from your subconscious mind just at the right time.

What have you to lose apart from your negative thoughts,REPLACE them with positive thoughts and feelings that will float into your mind just when you need them the most.

downloads and CDs are an easy way of transforming your processes !

What About The Mental Game Of Golf?

As golfers, we are always striving to perfect our game. It is a continual battle for improvement that seams never ending. Even the professional golfers are constantly working on their game. When you see even the pros struggling to maintain a constant level, that shows you how difficult golf can be.

Do you know that only about 5% of golfers Worldwide can break 70? What is it that those golfers have that we have not got? According to golf manufacturers and their advertising claims, we need the same expensive golf equipment that the pros use to play to their level.

That obviously is marketing hype, as you can now pick up the same driver that a PGA star used last year for under $200. So, many of us do have technologically advanced clubs and golf balls that the pros use; why are we still unable to break 70 or even 80?

The fact is the average score throughout the last 30 years or more has scarcely changed. Multi-billion investments have gone into developing new technology for golf club and ball construction. Then add a few billion more on advertising that tells us that we need these expensive clubs and balls to improve.

So we now have these clubs that are easier to use, are more forgiving, have higher launch angles, plus golf balls that combine optimum distance, spin and feel. Still, the majority of golfers are still struggling to shoot in the 80’s! It appears that the perfect golf game can not be bought; not even with the dozens of new golf training aids, modern instruction methods, or the many golf swing guides.

What is the thing that the top 5% of golfers know that we don’t. It appears that that “thing” that they possess is mastery of the Mental Game of Golf. That is the missing ingredient that can promote the quickest and most lasting change in any golfer’s game. It is interesting to note that this is the only area that doesn’t cost a penny to use, however hardly anyone uses it.

The game: Using your mind in a calculated, methodical and focused way is the surest method of improving your game and lowering your scores. Mastering the Inner Game of Golf can do wonders for your game. But you have to understand how to implement the methods.

After you do, you will have confidence in yourself and your game, be able to control your attention, cure your golf nerves and anxiety, have clear focus and mental toughness, and eliminate anger from your game – plus many more benefits.

Knowledge of the is what separates the top 5% of golfers from the rest of us. You can see it in action on the PGA Tour because all those guys have access to the same equipment, golf swing gurus, and putting gurus. The difference between them comes down to how well they master their during each tournament.

Visibly, at their intensity level and with all the pressure and media reporting, it is hard for them to maintain high levels of concentration and focus day after day, week after week. That is why even the likes of Tiger Woods can not win every major in a year or even dominate the majority of events in a season, every season.

But for mere mortals like us, understanding and using the techniques can have an immediate and long lasting positive affect on our game. It is the quickest way to and take your game to the next level. If you would like more information on how to start, then read How to Learn the Mental Game of Golf.
