In my blood family I received a lot of emotional conditioning which brought about my judgement and then disownment of certain ordinary, healthy traits and feelings. I guess it is the same in just about everyone’s family. These injunctions, counter-injunctions and attributions that are passed down and strengthened through generations of our family trees are so potent on young children’s minds, which absorb everything from the actions and behavior of all-powerful mothers and fathers that they might be compared with the magic spells cast by witches or sorcerers in a children’s story or movie.
These “magic spells” are often so influential that many of us continue under their power until the day we die, without ever getting the chance to break away from the spell or maybe to see our behaviour and enquire as why we hold such perspectives and why we act the way that we do.

It helps me to integrate parts of the self which were disowned because I was told that they were unbecoming when I was young. We then disown such perfectly normal, healthy characteristics and feelings so as to be safe in our blood family. But they do not thus vanish. Then we become our own worst enemy as our own projected energy comes back to clobber us like a boomerang. If we disown our own anger, angry folk are everywhere. Disown our judgement or critical-ness and critical folks are everywhere. Hence a batch of emotional issues ensue. But it’s tough to see that we do this as it shatters some of our dearest illusions about others and the world.
Meditation is the key to awareness, and awareness is the key to an integrated personality. Just ignore these voices inside you and concentrate on the new positive image only. With practice you will rid your subconscious of any old negative thoughts completely.
When you are in a state of gratitude, you are vibrating with the universe in a positive harmonious way and therefore whatever your event, condition, or circumstance you are focusing on will easily appear in your life. It is the unharmonious state that we want to avoid.

The Journey of Buddhism

Theravada Buddhism established the canon of Buddhist teachings and the laws governing the practices of Buddhist monks referred to as the Ten Precepts.
This discipline of Buddhism originated in India and moved through southeast Asia into Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burma, Vietnam and other Asian countries. As this form of Buddhism was embraced by the indigenous people, the Theravada was adapted to include the religious viewpoints of the various regions. It is still practiced in Laos, Sri Lanka and Cambodia today.
Mahayana, or Eastern Buddhism, expands the Pali Canon and includes other religious philosophies and texts that encourage altruism and the need to live a life of universal compassion. These beliefs are central to their concept of an “Awakened mind.” Practiced primarily in China, Korea and Japan, Mahayana Buddhism incorporates elements of mysticism and cosmology. Mahayana Buddhism itself has splintered into two variants. The version of Buddhism that puts emphasis on internalization of the spiritual path and self-reliance is called Zen Buddhism. The other form which emphasizes the need for dedication to the Amitabha Buddha in order to reach Nirvana is called Pure Land Buddhism.
Vajrayana or Tibetan Buddhism is very similar to Mahayana Buddhism with subtle variations. referred to as Tantric Buddhism, Vajrayana melds the scriptures and text of both Mahayana and Theraveda Buddhism along with Buddhist Tantras.
