crappie are one of the most plentiful gamefish that are stocked in all the lower 48 states and they go by many aliasessuch as calico bass, speckled perch, speckled bass, white perch, pole crappies, strawberry bass, and papermouths. The water temperature during the pre-spawn period is typically between 50 degrees farenhieght to 63 degrees farenhieght. During the pre-spawn period pole crappies are changing their daily patterns getting ready for the upcoming spawning period.
During the pre-spawn period the papermouths are searching for good spawning grounds to have their young. They require a solft, but not to mucky bottom because the males will be sweeping out the nest from time to time. The soft bottom needs to be close to cover which could be stumps, fallen trees, brush piles, reeds, or stalks that are at the appropriate depth for spawning.
The proper depth for spawning is determined by the water clarity where the crappie, calico bass are located. The clearer the water the deeper strawberry bass must go to spawn. In extremely clear lakes this may be at depths up to 20fett deep. In papermouths waters that have average clarity, typically strawberry bass spawn in depths of 3 to 6 feet. In mudy or murky waters the spawning depths may be only 2ft or less. The way the depth is determined is by how deep the light penetrates the most. Crappies will spawn right below that point. Light is required for the calico bass in the gestation period.
The best spawning locations for speckled bass are typically bays , coves, and back water areas that have a gravel-sand, sand, sand marl, and sand-silt bottoms.
Female crappie will start the migration to the spawning locations when the water temperature reaches 50 degrees farenhight. And they will stay near the spawning areas. To catch these females during the pre-spawn period go bait fishing with crappie live baits such as crappie minnows and shiners, or small crayfish. To catch the male white perch you will have to fish deep cover close to the spawning areas during the pre-awn period. You can use crappie jigs and long crappie jigging poles to get into the deep cover. During the pre-spawning period crappie will feed aggressively. If you can locate the crappie spawning areas during the pre-spawn period you will catch crappie while bait fishing using various crappie baits.
We hope the information in this article about Pole Crappies. Have a great day and the the best of luck to you on your next fishing trip

Bait Fishing: Article 77 Amazing Fishing Information About Sub-Surface Bass Plugs Plugs And Crank Baits Details Here!
Old School Bass Fishing Family Secrets
Many largemouth bass anglers use a variety of sub-surface bass lures on a regular basis. There are three main types of sub – surface plugs that work well when bait fishing for largemouth bass. The three types are crank baits, Minnow baits, and vibrating plugs. All sub – surface plugs are very effective to catch largemouth bass in the summer months when the largemouth bass are active and a faster retrieve works better. Sub – surface plugs are not the best choice when fishing cold water with one exception. Bass crank baits are some time used for cold water bait fishing presentation using a method called the stop and go. Al you need to do to fish the method is cast your bass crank bait out and retrieve it slowly then stop for a second or two, start your slow retrieve again and then stop again. Repeat all the way through your cast and retrieve.
Bass crank baits are probably the most popular of the sub – surface bass plugs used by largemouth bass fisherman. Crank baits typically have a relatively short , deep body and a wide broad lip that cause the bass bait to wobble through he water. If you attach or imbed a rattle into the body you will make these bass sub – surface plugs even more deadly. You can buy largemouth bass fishing crank baits that have preset diving depths. Normally these depths range from as shallow as 2ft to a max of 30 ft. Crank baits usually are only recommended to bait fish for bass in warm water fishing presentations but if you use the slow stop and go retrieve you can use the bass crank baits in cold water they can be quite effective.
are another popular summer time large moth bass bait fishing presentation that is use quit often by bass anglers. Minnow bass baits are typically designed long and slender and have a narrow lip that gives them a wiggle type wobble. Minnow sub – surface bass plugs are typically used where you need a shallow largemouth bass bait fishing presentation. Some minnow sub – surface bass plugs are designed with a very long and narrow lip and are used for deep water bass bait presentations. You can also add weights to these bass lures to go and stay deep. The bass plugs are designed to be negative buoyant so you can add weights to keep them right at the depth you are retrieving even if you stop your retrieve which is a good way to attract curious largemouth bass and entice them to strike your minnow bass plug.
Vibrating sub – surface bass plugs can be fished at any depth because they sink and they are excellent for any back trolling or down rigger trolling where stay at a predetermined depth. These baits are used quite frequently when walleye fishing but they are also quite effective when you are largemouth bass fishing in some bait fishing situations. These sub –surface bass plugs have very tight wiggle pattern that generates vibrations through the water that can be felt by large mouth bass from some distances away. These Bass baits are also a good way to discover new bass fishing habitat because you can cover a lot of water in a shot period of time.
Well that concludes my article about Vibrating Plugs. Have a great day!

Bait Fishing: Article 75 Amazing Fishing Information About Catch Largemouth Bass Details Here!
Old School Bass Fishing Family Secrets
Soft plastics ar by far the most popular largemouth bass baits used by bass fisherman nationwide. Soft plastic large mouth bass lures are as close to natural bass baits that you can get. They look and feel like real largemouth bass food when bass hit your bait.
They can be rigged so the hook is imbedded in the plastic so you can fish dense cover, common when you are using Texas bass fishing rigs, or with what is know as a Carolina bass fishing rig, where the hook or hooks are exposed. Carolina large mouth bass fishing rigs are normally fished on a clean bottom, and used in thick cover because of the exposed hooks. The Carolina rig is very enticing to large mouth bass because of how the fishing rig is designed. A slip sinker is attached well up your fishing line and when lowered through the water the soft plastic fishing lure seems to almost float and flutter because it is dropping through the water much slower then the slip sinker which attracts the large month bass.
Another popular way to fish soft plastics is by using a small jig head. This methods of fishing for bass is intended for a very slow largemouth bass bait fishing presentation. Fishing with soft plastic fishing lures and a jig head works great for known largemouth bass habitat locations but is not a good fishing method if you intended to fish news bass fishing waters. Soft plastic bass baits work well in cold water so spring and early summer are the best time of the year to use them. We are going to describe in the last three paragraphs how to make a Texas large mouth bass fishing rig, and a simple Carolina largemouth bass fishing rig.
To make a Texas bass fishing rig you will need the following fishing tackle. Start by pushing the thin tip end of a bullet sinker up your line first, then tie on a offset nightcrawler hook. Next push your soft plastic bass fishing bait on to your offset starting about 3/8” inch from the fat end of the soft plastic bait, and bring the hook out the side. Then twist the hook 180 degrees and push the hook back into the soft plastic bass bait deep enough to almost penetrate the other side but not pushing through.
To make a simple Carolina bass fish rig that has a strait hook you will need to start with the following fishing tackle. You will need a strait bass fishing hook, brass sinker, two way swivel, and a shinny bead. The brass sinker and the glass bead are used to create a “clinking” noise when falling through the water. This noise attracts the largemouth bass. Slide the brass sinker up the line with the pointed end going on first. Next slide the bead up the line., then tie the two way swivel on the line . Next tie on a 12” leader that already has a bass fishing hook attached on one end to the open eye of the two way swivel. Then push a soft plastic bass bait such as what is called aribbon tail worm about 3/8” from the top of the fat end of the soft plastic bass bait.

Bait Fish: A67 Amazing Information On How To Classifying Catfish Waters! And Info On Bait Fish Click Here!
Old School Catfish Fishing Family Secrets
The process of classifying catfish lakes is no exact sceince but general guidelines are used to help you locate such catfish types like channel catfish, blue catfish, and flathead catfish at different seasons of the year. The classifying process is not an exact science because there is not a lot of scientific data that has been collected about catfish like other game fish species. Fortunately there is some data that has be collected about the channel catfish, and we will use some of that history as reference for our article today. Our article today will focus on the different types of catfish lakes.
To classify catfish waters is a three part process. When you classify catfish waters for bait fishing you compare the type of lake, structure, the lakes location, and seasonal movements of a particular species of catfish such as channel catfish, blue catfish, and flathead catfish. If this sounds like a bit of work it is. To be a very good catfish angler it does take a bit of practice and trial and error just like any other sport. For example your best pro athletes spend hours in the weight room and with conditioning to get ready for the next season. The ones that prepare the best perform the best, it’s no different with fishing for catfish, or any other fish species for that mater.
Before we start on the different lake classifications lets talk briefly about the idea water temperatures for channel catfish, blue catfish and flat head catfish. This information is vital when you are preparing to identify ideal bait fishing for catfish waters. The ideal temperature range for all catfish is between 75degrees to 80 degrees. When the water temperature rises to 75degree all catfish will start their spawning. This will occurs at different times, depending where the catfish waters are located. Typical spawning periods for Florida are the months, of April, May and June. The catfish spawning times for Alabama and Georgia are May and June. In Texas and Oklahoma catfish spawn between May and June. In Kentucky and Tennessee the spawn will happen between June and July. In Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa The spawn of catfish will occur in June and July. In Ohio The cats will spawn over a three month period between July to early August. In Minnesota and Wisconsin you can expect the spawn to be between July to early August also. Manitoba Canada will have a spawn of catfish between July and August.
The following information about the types of catfish lakes is to be used as a guide only so you can classify your local cat fish hole and lakes around you. There are no two lakes that are exactly alike but fortunately lakes do fall into three basic categories which are oligotrophic (young lakes), mesotrophic (middle aged lakes), and eutrophic (old lakes). Some lakes such as oligotrophic lakes will not hold any catfish and can be eliminated them from you catfish lake classification list. Understanding the idea temperature range for catfish is a key factor when you start to learn the catfish water classification for bait fishing. All baseline data will be developed based on knowing this information first. Catfish will react differently when the water temperature moves below or above their ideal temperature and you will be predicting their movements and feeding patterns based on this information.
To classify a lake into one of the three lake classifications listed in the last paragraph there are some specific factors you need to consider such as how many game fish there are compared to the number of bait fish, the amount and type of aquatic vegetation, and other critical structure habitat factors. This information will be used in combination of seasonal movements to determine where catfish will be located and what type of catfish bait to use when you go bait fishing for your particular species of catfish.
We hope the information here has bin helpful about about Bait Fish. We wish you the best of luck on your next fishing trip!

Bait Fishing: A40 Special Fall Fishing Report On Pole Crappie Click Here To Visit Our Website Today!
Old School Crappie Fishing Family Secrets
The crappie has so many different names such calico bass, speckled perch, speckled bass, white perch, pole crappie, strawberry bass, and papermouth depending on what part of the country you live in. Going bait fishing for papermouth during the fall can sometimes be a very frustrating time of the year if you do not understand the fall transition period in your area. During the period between late summer and the start of fall the water will start too cool and a common term called lake turnover will start to happen.
If you intend to get serious about fall crappie fishing and intend to be bait fishing for speckled bass in lakes or large reservoirs and you want to continue to catch crappie you need to know the basics of what is called lake turnover. During the summer months lakes with stratify into 3 distinct layers. The surface layer, which is the warmest layer and somewhat oxygenated water, next you ave what is called the thermocline layer which is cool and well oxygenated, and then you have the bottom layer which is the coldest and least oxygenated layer.
During the summer and late fall crappie generally are suspended in the thermocline layer relaxing in the cool well oxygenated water. The key to fall crappie fishing using your bait fishing techniques is to find where the speckled bass are located during and after the lake turn over. When the temperature starts to cool this layer in essence starts to sink. It has long been known the colder then after the heavier it gets. The layers below the surface water is warmer and will rise. The three layers of water will continue to mix, rise, and fall until the temperature of the water reaches approximately 39 degrees. When this temperature is reached it is harder to go fall crappie fishing using your bait fishing skills because the three layers and the pole crappie could be located at any depth. After lake turn over , the water will stay this way until late spring when the water once again starts to warm.
One key factor I have found with speckled bass in the fall is they feel most comfortable when they are close to good food sources. If you can find what food sources they are feeding on you can make your fall crappie fishing using your excellent bait fishing skills for trip more successful.
