During the summer period pole crappies become less aggressive and to you need to use some fishing savvy to locate the white perch and to identify that will work best.

The strawberry bass are less aggressive because the natural forage such as fry, insects, plankton , adult , shiners, , small are plentiful and the speckled bass can be more selective on what such as , , tipped with live baits that they will attack for food. Bait Fish: A67 Amazing Information On How To Classifying Catfish Waters! And Info On Bait Fish Click Here!

bait fish

Old School Catfish Fishing Family Secrets

The process of classifying catfish lakes is no exact sceince but general guidelines are used to help you locate such catfish types like , , and at different seasons of the year. The classifying process is not an exact science because there is not a lot of scientific data that has been collected about catfish like other game fish species. Fortunately there is some data that has be collected about the , and we will use some of that history as reference for our article today. Our article today will focus on the different types of catfish lakes.

To classify catfish waters is a three part process. When you classify catfish waters for you compare the type of lake, structure, the lakes location, and seasonal movements of a particular species of catfish such as , , and . If this sounds like a bit of work it is. To be a very good catfish angler it does take a bit of practice and trial and error just like any other sport. For example your best pro athletes spend hours in the weight room and with conditioning to get ready for the next season. The ones that prepare the best perform the best, it’s no different with fishing for catfish, or any other fish species for that mater.

Before we start on the different lake classifications lets talk briefly about the idea water temperatures for , and flat head catfish. This information is vital when you are preparing to identify ideal for catfish waters. The ideal temperature range for all catfish is between 75degrees to 80 degrees. When the water temperature rises to 75degree all catfish will start their spawning. This will occurs at different times, depending where the catfish waters are located. Typical spawning periods for Florida are the months, of April, May and June. The times for Alabama and Georgia are May and June. In Texas and Oklahoma catfish spawn between May and June. In Kentucky and Tennessee the spawn will happen between June and July. In Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa The spawn of catfish will occur in June and July. In Ohio The cats will spawn over a three month period between July to early August. In Minnesota and Wisconsin you can expect the spawn to be between July to early August also. Manitoba Canada will have a spawn of catfish between July and August.

The following information about the types of catfish lakes is to be used as a guide only so you can classify your local cat fish hole and lakes around you. There are no two lakes that are exactly alike but fortunately lakes do fall into three basic categories which are oligotrophic (young lakes), mesotrophic (middle aged lakes), and eutrophic (old lakes). Some lakes such as oligotrophic lakes will not hold any catfish and can be eliminated them from you catfish lake classification list. Understanding the idea temperature range for catfish is a key factor when you start to learn the catfish water classification for . All baseline data will be developed based on knowing this information first. Catfish will react differently when the water temperature moves below or above their ideal temperature and you will be predicting their movements and feeding patterns based on this information.

To classify a lake into one of the three lake classifications listed in the last paragraph there are some specific factors you need to consider such as how many game fish there are compared to the number of , the amount and type of aquatic vegetation, and other critical structure habitat factors. This information will be used in combination of seasonal movements to determine where catfish will be located and what type of to use when you go for your particular species of catfish.

We hope the information here has bin helpful about about . We wish you the best of luck on your next fishing trip!

Catfish bait A37 Old Master Special Fishing Details On Catching Catfish And Also Catfish Bait Fishing Rig Details Here!

chub minnows

One of the best catfish baits that works consistently to catch blue catfish or channel catfish is a bait fish called chub minnows. There are some tips I recommend tat work very well for me when I use chub minnows for my catfish bait selection.

There are a couple of way to prepare chubs to be used to catch catfish. You can either fish chubs live, as a whole dead bait drifting or trolling or as a cut bait. I have used all three methods as catfish bait, with good success, but the most consistent method used in different water conditions has been using chubs as cutbait fished from a three way swivel fishing rig.

To make cut bait from chub minnows catch or purchase at leaste 2 dozen 3 inch to  6 inch  chub minnows. Keep your chubs alive with cool aireated water until it is time to use them for catfish bait. In the next step I recommend you use a fillet knife. Take the three chub minnows from the bait bucket and cut them into 1″ wide chunks.

If you want to drift or troll with dead chub minnows hook them by pushing the 5/0 hook through the mouth and up through the back. To hook your chunks of chub minnow catfish bait, push the barb into the chunk up the shank of the 5/0 hook. Make sure the barb is exposed. To make a three way swivel catfish bait fishing rig is very simple.

Step #1 Tie a three way swivel to your fishing line using a Palomar knot.

Step #2 Tie a 8″ steel leader to the open eye oppisite the eye you tied your line too.

Step # 3 Clip a number 5/0 hook into the leader.

Step #4 Tie a Carolina catfish fishing rig to the open eye on the three way swivel that is pointing downward.

I have had a great time writing this article we hope you enjoyed our information about Carolina Catfish Fishing Rig. Have a great day!

Catfish Bait: article # 29 Special Fishing Report On How To Fish With Skipjack Herring Cutbait Details Here!

using shad to catch catfish

Old School Catfish Fishing Family Secrets Opt In Link

One of the best catfish baits for blue catfish and channel catfish is what is commonly called cutbait. Dead bait is also categorized as cutbait and either one of these types of catfish bait work great to catch a mess of good eating size catfish.

One of the most common dead baits that many catfish anglers use are creek chubs. You can hook creek chubs as a dead bait or cut them up and use them as cut bait. There are many methods you could use to fish creek chubs and one excellent method used to fish them dead and whole is to thread them. To thread your creek chub tie a your fishing line to a bait needle then push it through the mouth and out the side near the tail. Next pull the need all the way through until you have enough slack to tie on a treble hook. After you have tied on the treble pull the fishing line back until you impel one of the barbs into the flesh. Let the other two hooks exposed.

Another way to use bait fish as catfish bait is by using what is called plug-cut bait fish. Plug cutting is when you cut the head off of a bait fish such as a creek chub at an angle.then then gut the bait fish. You want to hook your plug cut bait fish such as a creek chub with a fishing rig that is called a mooching fishing rig. The first thing you want to do with your mooching rig is push the back hook through the body and out the side. Next push the front hook through the back so it pierces the backbone and adjust the hook to take up some but not all of the slack. A mooching fishing rig works best for drift fishing or a very slow troll where you want your catfish bait to roll. A mooching fishing rig is a excellent way to catch so catfish especially in a shallow lake where drift fishing is common.

Another catfish bait that works great to catch blue catfish or channel catfish is using shad cut into chunks. Get you a large shad and cut it into 1 to 2 wide chunks. Use a 4/0 to 5/0 hook. Push the hook through the back portion of the chunk and leave plenty of hook exposed. You can also fish with skipjack herring and other oily fish the same way.

I want to thank you for reading my article about skipjack herring cutbait. Have a great day!
