A Married Couple Becomes Agitated About Their Irresponsible And Hazardous Drinking And Then Experiences Some Self Esteem, Personal Happiness And Success, And Positive Attitude About Addressing Their Alcohol Difficulties

Sarah and Jerry have been married for seven years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have a family and so they intentionally fashioned an especially exciting social life.

The basic issue, however, is that very nearly everything they do with their family and friends includes drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, sporting events, parties with friends, family get-togethers, and dinner engagements they patronize somehow include drinking.

Sarah and Jerry Begin to Observe Some Unmistakable Alcohol Related Difficulties That Come From Their Irresponsible Drinking

If they were casual drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a major problem. Since they drink rather excessively, however, they are starting to see some clearly identifiable alcohol-related problems in their lives.

As an illustration, just a few weeks ago Jerry was arrested for a third DUI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work because of alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Jerry’s last three performance evaluations at the office have been less than creditable and he has begun to fail to recall what he says or does while he drinks. Finally, Jerry has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to exhibit some uneasiness about his drinking circumstances.

Sarah, on the other hand, has been feeling down in the dumps with things in her life and to deal with this, she has been drinking more than any time in the past six months. Not only this, but Sarah has been getting more than a few throbbing headaches and suffering from terrible hangovers because of her drinking. As a final point, Sarah has been feeling appreciably less energetic when she awakens, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been receiving some inconsiderate criticism from her family members, friends, relatives, and coworkers about her abusive drinking.

Watching the TV and Accidently Discovering An Out-of-the-Ordinary Program About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Sunday evening while watching TV, Sarah and Jerry inadvertently discovered an attention-grabbing documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This television special was a real jolt to Sarah and Jerry because numerous alcoholism signs that were discussed seemed like they were directly linked to some of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been suffering through.

A Candid Conversation About Drinking Activities Uncovers Alcohol Related Employment, Health, Financial, Legal, and Relationship Problems

After watching the television documentary, Jerry and Sarah made up their minds to have a forthright talk about their drinking circumstances. They both concurred that most, if not all, of their social activities included drinking, that they were drinking in an irresponsible manner, and that as a couple, they were starting to notice alcohol related employment, financial, health, legal, and relationship problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the TV special still fresh in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are dependent on alcohol or maybe becoming dependent on alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the nearby drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.

Tackling Your Drinking Problems May Lessen Your Apprehension and Give You A Degree of Peacefulness

Strangely enough, although their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was evident that Sarah and Jerry were at the very least focusing on their drinking difficulties, they were ready to find out more about their drinking circumstances, and they were interested in finding out how they could substantially cut back on or get rid of the drinking-related problems that had begun to emerge.

When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that night, they arrived at a decision that the next afternoon, Jerry would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol treatment clinic located just East of the State Capital. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to surmount the drinking problems that had emerged in their lives, they actually had the best night’s sleep they could think of in the last six weeks.

Just before he fell asleep, Jerry turned to Sarah and observed how effortless it is to lessen one’s sense of dread and in point of fact experience a sense of calm by attending to one’s problems with personal integrity and coming to a decision to do something positive about them.
