A Ninth Grader Suffers From An Alcohol Overdose

Jeffrey was a high school freshman who usually seemed to be living on the edge. Jeffrey had an adventurous personality and usually wanted to do what his older brothers were doing to have fun. The fundamental drawback with this was that all three of his brothers were at least 21 years old and were therefore able from a legal point of view to operate a vehicle and to ingest alcohol.

Jeffrey, in spite of this, had a rough time realizing the fact that as a fifteen-year-old youth he should not be drinking alcoholic beverages. In fact, in spite of this, Jeffrey frequently drank with his buddies after school, primarily on the weekends.

When he articulated this to the attending healthcare practitioner at the hospital, nevertheless, the doctor notified Jeffrey that drinking ten wine coolers over a two or three hour period of time could surely be significantly more alcohol than can be metabolized by the body. The doctor further articulated how excessive alcohol can cause the brain to shut down an individual’s breathing and that when this comes about, a person can perish.

This was the first signal to Jeffrey that he was drinking in a dangerous fashion and that there are consequences for such activities. The physicain told Jeffrey that he was a fortunate person because he almost perished from an alcohol overdose the previous night.

The healthcare practitioner also had a word with Jeffrey’s parents and suggested that they get alcohol therapy for Jeffrey. His parents were relieved that Jeffrey was safe and sound and told the physicain that they would follow through on getting Jeffrey alcohol rehab.
