A Saturday Evening Out With Friends From College at a Local Discotheque Leads To Hazardous and Excessive Drinking and Alcohol Poisoning
When Janice was in high school, she had gained a reputation as an individual who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, whooped it up by drinking with her buddies. She seemed passionate about doing well academically so that she would be able to go after a career that she not only got pleasure from but one that also gave her some security from a financial perspective.
After much reflection, finally she made up her mind that she wanted to be a trial lawyer. In order to bring this about, nevertheless, she would first have to finish four years of undergrad education.

After Janice graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into an outstanding program in history. Her rationale for this decision was that this academic discipline would be good preparation for law school and wouldn’t be comparable to the preponderance of law school applicants who select political science as their undergraduate major.
After graduating with a 3.85 GPA at the undergraduate level, she applied to and was accepted at a celebrated law school at one of the Pacific Ten universities.
She was pleased with her legal studies but on rare occasions she was flooded with all the work that had to be undertaken at law school. Reminiscent to the way she handled herself in her high school and undergraduate days, nonetheless, she made buddies painlessly but barely took part in social activities until the quarter was over.

Janice was the kind of individual who worked meticulously to complete what she was doing and then would take some time off when she could. As is the case, nonetheless, nearly all of the things she did between school sessions or during her summer vacations did not involve drinking. It almost goes without saying that Janice was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were over and elated with the fact that she had done very well on her finals, because of this, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides school work for a change.

So Janice and a number of her pals went to a local club where they had a few shots. As the hours passed, Janice continued to drink without having a care in the world about examinations or class the next day. If truth be told, Janice told her pals how delighted she was to have fun drinking with her classmates.
As the evening proceeded, Janice and her buddies continued to drink. In point of fact, she was having such a great time that she didn’t want the night to come to an end. It was almost like she was making up for lost time and attempting to force a year’s worth of merriment and fun into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” however, seldom works. If truth be told, when Janice went to the lady’s room and threw up, her pals started to feel uneasy about her safety.
Around thirty minutes later when Janice started to slur her speech, talk in a confused manner, and then fall unconscious, nevertheless, her friends instantly knew that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Janice was displaying alcohol poisoning symptoms.
Once Janice was in the rehab hospital, the head emergency room physician verified what her buddies had assumed, namely, that Janice consumed far more alcohol than her body could process and, as a consequence, she suffered from an alcohol overdose.
After the emergency room medical staff pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were identifiable, Janice was moved to the recovery room. After staying roughly six hours in recovery, Janice was then transported to one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the worst was over and all of her vital signs were once again in the normal range.
In response to Janice’s situation, her pals attentively called her Mother and Father. Consequently, early the next morning, her Mom and Dad and her favorite pals went to the hospital to visit Janice and check on her medical condition.
Janice Dodges a Bullet, is Gratified to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Excessive and Irresponsible Manner
Janice was attentive to the fact that she came an inch from losing her life and, as a consequence, was gratified to be alive. Her Mom and Dad were aware how hard she worked at the university and how little she permitted herself to socialize with her classmates. Nevertheless, they also knew that Janice needed to steer clear of excessive drinking.
As a result, they recommended that down the road, whenever a drinking situation develops, that she always drink responsibly. Janice was of the same opinion and gave her word to her friends and to her Mother and Father that she would never again drink in an excessive and abusive manner. As stated by Janice, “I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local town newspaper. I now realize that abusive and hazardous drinking is not for me. I say publicly that this will never happen again.”
Fortunately, Janice was not only “school smart” but she also displayed a lot of common sense. Stated another way, she instantaneously comprehended that she had made a mistake and made up her mind that she would never make the same error in judgment again. In fact, she now grasped the fact that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this kind of abusive drinking can end in a loss of life.
