STEROIDS - Let's Continue to Beat this Dead Horse!

Anyone else looking to beat this horse???

Still on the steroids debate. Still� on� the� steroids� debate. They�re ILLEGAL!!!!!! Doesn�t anyone understand this fact! ILLEGAL! As in, jail time, fines, suspensions, community service, ILLEGAL. Not allowable! So why is Major League Baseball going around and around with this subject STILL!?! Rafael Palmeiro tested positive for use and the debate about the record books came up�again! Quoted in the article I recently read was Gaylord Perry who threw baseballs with Vaseline on them back in the early 60�s through 80�s and Norm Cash who admittedly corked his bat back in 1961 to hit .361, 41 HR�s, and 132 RBI�s. Now let�s see, last time I checked the laws of my local county, state, and federal municipalities, NO WHERE did it say I could go to jail or be brought up on charges for sticking cork inside of a bat or putting Vaseline on any set of bat or balls that I own�.(we�ll leave this comment open for our amusement.)

Recently, the committee chairperson of the Society for American Baseball Research was quoted as saying, �We�re not moralists�. However, do you not hold some level of moral obligation to saying that an ILLEGAL act that directly and actually affects the outcomes of these games does not cross the line? Not even a little? What about throwing a game by betting on the outcome? Remember the memorable days of �Shoeless� Joe Jackson. What if that had been, statistically speaking, the greatest game ever played? What if it was a no-hitter or was known as the game with the most runs scored? Could anyone in good conscience leave this game in the record books as the benchmark to beat? Could any of the athletes today possibly stomach the idea of playing the all time greatest game without cheating and be second to a thrown game? Would the thrown game be the rightful owner of �The Greatest Game Ever Played�?

Here�s a question to begin arguing about? Mark McGuire. How does a Big Mac with a side order of Lies sound to you? To Congress and in front of almighty God himself, Mr. Mc chose not to ��speak about the past�. Why? Does it have anything to do with your steroid use to claim, at that time, the all time Home-Run record? Is the use of an ILLEGAL substance enough to cross the line into an area of morality? Maybe the committee would take a little time to ponder �that� consideration.

Yes, it�s only baseball. But, it is the backbone of an American tradition. Maybe we should say that lemon meringue is more American then Grandma�s Apple. Maybe Orange, White, and Blue would look better on the Flag. Maybe SuperBowl Sunday is just �any ol� Sunday�. Whatever. The bottom line is this. Our life is governed by our weighing the differences between what is right and wrong, good or bad, left or right. Perhaps Baseball can take a look at itself and say that if you�re: 1.) A cheater 2.) A liar or 3.) Decide to use an ILLEGAL substance like a steroid to benefit your name amongst the many who tried their damndest to become a true marker of the records, you DO NOT belong in the book of records. The only book we�ll make sure to remember you in will be the one with the fingerprints.

Did I mention that steroids were ILLEGAL???

You need recovery time due to the intensity of a strong body building workout to allow your muscles to heal in between workout sessions. This is very important in any body building program.

Keep a log of the exercises you are performing and note your progress regularly. By doing this, you’ll know where you stand as far as your strength potential, and you can make changes as needed to realize your personal goal.

Body building workouts vary from person to person, but they all contain basic components that can help all body builders grow their muscles and tone their bodies.

Best Ab Exercises for Building 6-Pack Abs

Men’s Health expert fitness trainer Craig Ballantyne believes that men and women can lose their belly fat and get flat lower abs with fast fat loss workouts.

He even believes you can “spot reduce” and lose your tummy fat with a specific type of exercise — and no, it’s not ab crunches. Plus, he knows specific abdominal exercises that can flatten your lower abs.

“The classic ab crunch is generally a waste of time because the ab crunch doesn’t work the entire main ab muscle (rectus abdominis). There are other better, unique ab exercises that men and women can do to flatten their lower abs," Ballantyne advises.

“And if you want to lose belly fat, forget about doing long, slow boring cardio for fat loss,” Ballantyne insists. “You’ll get more results in less time in your fat burning workouts by using interval training for fat loss.

This was proven by a research study from Australia, who found that only interval training helped women lose belly fat, while doing cardio for twice as long did not!”

Some of Ballantyne's favorite abdominal exercises can be done with just your bodyweight or need only a common exercise ball.

Here’s a list of just a few of his favorite total body ab exercises that will help you get a flat stomach (provided you combine these exercises with interval training for fat loss):

Exercise Ball Ab Rollouts

Kneel on a mat and place your clasped hands on the top of a medium sized ball. Brace your abs and slowly lean forward and roll your hands over the ball while the ball moves away from your body. Keep your body in a straight line and go as far as you can with perfect form. Contract your abs and reverse the motion to return to the upright position.

Hanging Leg Raise

Hang from a chin-up bar using an underhand grip. Brace your abs. With a slight bend in your knees, curl your hips back and raise your legs up in front of you until they are parallel to the floor. Don’t use momentum. Go slow and controlled both ways.

Side Planks

Raise your body in a straight line so that your body hovers over the mat. Keep your back straight and your hips up. Hold your abs tight. Contract them as if someone was about to punch you in the stomach, but breath normally.

Plank with Your Arms on the Ball

Place your clasped hands on the top of a medium sized ball. Keep your body in a straight line from shoulders to toes and keep your abs braced.

Plus, if you have access to a commercial gym, his favorite resistance exercises for your abs — to help you build a set of 6-pack abs — include:

Cable Chops

Stand sideways beside a cable stack with your right shoulder closest to the stack. Attach a handle to the highest pulley position. Grasp the handle over your right shoulder with arms extended and a slight bend at the elbow. Your knees should be slightly bent and your hips slightly pushed back. Prepare for the exercise by bracing (contracting) your abdominals from top to bottom. Without bending at the elbows any further, bring your arms down and across the body using your abs to initiate the movement. Focus on working your abs and obliques. Bring your hands across to your left hip pocket and then slowly return to the start. Perform all reps for one side and then switch.

Kneeling Cable Ab Crunches

Attach a rope handle to the top of a cable pulley system. Kneel in front of the pulley and hold the rope behind your head. Brace your abs, and curl your torso forward. Your arms should remain above your head during the crunch. Slowly return to the start position.

Do two exercises twice per week, and do intervals 3 times per week for best results.

In short, to get six pack abs, you need to get leaner and develop your abs’ musculature.

This is done through training and nutrition. I’ll cover only the topic of training here.

Training-wise, to build six pack abs, you must combine cardio exercise, weightlifting, and abdominal exercises. All three are important, and to really get six pack abs you must do all three.

Cardio makes you leaner and helps you lose stomach fat, which is necessary if you want your six pack abs to show.

Weightlifting makes you leaner, too, by increasing your resting metabolic rate and the amount of calories you burn at rest. Good weightlifting routines for fat loss are available elsewhere online. Abdominal exercises can be divided according to which area they put the emphasis on. All exercises activate the whole abdominal region, but each one targets a specific area more than the others. They can put the emphasis on the upper and middle abs, the lower abs, or the side abs.
